“The art of mask” seems to be one of the basic and essential work that is carried out during the refinishing process. However, it does not belong to painters’ favorite tasks..

For protection, car is covered with paper or foil at least two times: once at the stage of preliminary work such as filling, putting primer, grinding in order to protect against mechanical damage and dirt. The second time, as we prepare elements for final painting.

Sometimes painters use various wrapping \"substitutes\" to protect a car. Such movements may have uninvited results:

  • inappropriate paper may release contaminants
  • construction foil makes a paint peeling and causes pollution, as a result paint dust gets into the foil and pollutes vehicle that is being repaired
  • inappropriate wrapping tape may detach during painting
  • inappropriate paper makes the paint soak and stick to the surface

Using a special foil appears to be very convenient and safe method of masking. One side of this material (properly marked), is well adjacent to the element a car body.

Paints and primers adjoin very easily to the other side of the foil. Such type of masking is simple and quick. What is more, after painting there is a very small amount of waste.

It is worth to remember about appropiate adhesive tapes, especially when we use water-based varnishes.
