Varnish coat is treated as a whole by the vehicles manufacturers. It provides specific features, the visual effect of which plays a very important role. The painter usually divides the coat into the components, being aware that the base varnish and the colourless varnish are responsible for the final effect of appearance. .
I tell here about it, because the covering power of the base varnishes and the desire to reduce the time of repair often appear during conversations with the painters.
The solution to this problem is very simple, i.e. to treat the varnish coat as a whole - as the vehicle manufacturer does. In the simplest case, the properly selected primer may shorten the time of repair and to fully reflect the original cover.
Why does this happen?
There are a few reasons. First of all, painting cost reduction - once new cover thickness was 150 microns, today it is 100 microns. The second reason is the increasing use the varnishes with visual effects (additives in the form of xirallic or components of StarDust type), which are partially transparent, and therefore cover to the lesser extent. Another factor influencing on decreased covering power is to stop using of lead and chromate to the production process, which dramatically improve covering, but unfortunately are harmful to the environment.
The result of all this is the option, in some cases, to see with the eye the primer under the base varnish on new vehicles.
How to deal with this?
The manufacturers of the renovation varnishes provide the information what colour of the primer should be applied under the base varnish to improve its colour matching and improve covering power at the same time.If the formula program, at the colour, shows the information \"primer\", we should apply the colour under the top base.
In the course of painting, the \"wet on wet\" method should be applied, using the suitable base under the base varnish. In the vehicles manufacturing process, a variety of shades of grey colour are often used. The colour of the primer can also be assured using the suitable filling primer. Then, the methods of drying the primer and processing by sanding or in the \"wet on wet” method.
Painting with regard to the colour of the \"primers\" is used to paint three and four layers.
We can improve the covering power of the base varnish, without concern of changing the colour, by adding 10% less diluent to the mixture. Remember, the poured base layers will cover better than those imposed by powdering or as the so-called \"half-layer\".
Using HVLP spraying guns, we can improve covering power, including the clear coat.
In conclusion, the pace of restoration of the paint is not always the result of high covering power. Acting according to the recommendations of the manufacturer of the varnishes allows for better projection of the repaired cover, reduce associated costs, and could significantly reduce the time of repair.

Minor scratches, chips or paint damage can happen to any car owner. Although they may seem like a cosmetic problem at first, they can lead to more serious issues such as corrosion over time.
The paint thickness of a car is one of the most important indicators of its technical condition and service history. Owners and buyers of used cars are increasingly checking the factory paint thickness to assess whether the car
