It may happen that, despite the best efforts, the recipe software database does not contain a necessary color. In this case, assistance is provided by the colorists of Multichem. Our experts answer the questions referred in the shortest possible time. For this purpose, please send your request directly from the recipe software. Watch the clip showing how to do it.

Base lacquer - CP99, is single-component 1K lacquer, which provides the color for our car. Only the dedicated thinner is needed to prepare the ready-to-spray mixture. Base lacquers require clear coat to protect them. Our base products consist of Kar-Bon and waterborne Aqua 2G. Base lacquers provide coatings of various types of the visual effects like Pearls, Metallics, Xirallic.

Acrylic lacquers, in most cases, are in two-component version, e.g. Acryl CP 88. In order to harden them, the activator, so-called hardener, is required. Acrylic lacquers do not need to be covered with clearcoat. This is the most important difference. The acrylic lacquers disadvantage is impossibility of obtaining the coating with the effects, as it occurs in the case with base lacquers.

The function in Kar-Bon recipe software helps to specify how much paint is needed to cover individual items, as well as the entire car.

In Kar-Bon software, once you have selected specific colour, the button "QUANTITY ADJUSTMENT" appears, after clicking, one can select the specific items of the car body to be covered, and the software will show how much lacquer is needed. We have to select different sizes of the car.

Calculator helps to select the amount of paint only approximately. The individual lacquer conditions need to be considered.

Due to its application, we can get satin surface resistant to scratches. Just check the box "GLOSS CONVERTER" in Kar-Bon recipe software to obtain the recipe for 1K base lacquer, which we can paint without using clearcoat as the protection coat.

There is no need to use clearcoat on top. Base lacquer that is associated with the addition suits very well for the applications, e.g. to lacquer the engine compartment.

Candy offers a wide range of motorcycle colors and special visual effects. In order to use Candy in the recipe software, select it in the settings. Watch the attached clip to know more.

Color additives allow to recreate even the most original coatings with the visual effects.

They can change color depending on the angle of observation, allowing to obtain the surprising optical effects.

Matt resin serves as a binder to the acrylic lacquers in two-component systems. Due to its application we can get dull or semi-matt surface.

Addition of the matt resin reduces strength of covering.

More precisely it is called as the wash primer, as a product we labeled it with CP 590 symbol. It protects metal surfaces against corrosion. Wash primer is applied directly on metal surfaces. This is a two-component product, where fully diluted phosphoric acid acts as the activator. As a result of contact with iron, we obtain iron phosphate film, forming an effective barrier against the corrosive nature of the external and internal factors. This type of primer is usually applied with very thin layers (with a thickness of several micrometers), therefore, it required to be covered with other acrylic or epoxy primer.

Epoxy primer (CP 395; CP 394), due to its excellent adhesion to metal and strong cross-linking, is an excellent barrier to water. It is used as the priming layer for metal surfaces protecting from corrosion. The disadvantage of epoxy primer is long curing time.

Fish Eyes – known also as a silicone contamination, poor wetting, saucering, craters, pits are the result of contamination on the lacquered surface. Before painting, be sure that all surfaces are completely clean.

Assure that all activities with using the products containing silicones are performed away from the lacquer premises.

The following clip shows how to apply CP 590 reactive primer and CP 345 acrylic primer.

Clearcoats are applied in most cases by using the wet-on-wet technique, i.e. on the clean, non-sanded surface of 1K base lacquer (which can be wiped with an anti-static cloth). After applying the last layer of base lacquer, wait approx. 10-15 minutes. This is the time necessary for proper coating deposition. After that, just finish your work by applying clearcoat.

For base coat it is recommended to use dedicated thinner. The use of other thinners will result in loss of product warranty. However more important are the consequences. The use of acrylic thinner is associated with prolongated drying time and changed orientation of pigment grains in the coating. In other words, do not be surprised if you get completely different color with decreased adhesion to the substrate.

RAL is a popular and frequently used color card.
